MAB project starts on Monday

Construction-triangleOur summer construction programme in the Main Admin Building will start on Monday 24 June.

We are creating exciting new learning facilities on the third floor, enlarging the Jackson Lecture Theatre from 243 to 327 seats, improving comfort and capacity on all four levels of the Atrium, and improving the entrances to the building.

Inevitably, the work will involve some disruption to students and staff. We apologise in advance for this, and we hope you’ll agree the end results are worth the short-term inconvenience. To minimise disruption to students and staff, the noisier building activity (such as piling) will take place at weekends and evenings.

Catering will continue to be available throughout the 14-week construction programme. However, seating will be reduced while the Atrium is altered.

As the areas cordoned off for the building work will change throughout the project, temporary signage will direct building users to offices and other spaces. Access routes will change during the project, and this may include taking longer routes than normal to reach offices.

From Monday 24 June, the western entrance to the MAB will be closed for upgrades. The northern fire exits will be open for additional access as well as the eastern entrance.

We will post further updates on this website throughout the project.
